TREE TRIMMING

Keeping trees trimmed is important to ensure that the entire tree is healthy and growing in proper direction. We recommend tree trimming several times per year to stay at their healthiest, avoid sections from blocking sunlight, remove excess growth that may be taking away nutrients from other sections, and let your trees look their fullest. Our tree trimming specialists have the proper equipment to do so safely, as well as the knowledge of which sections to trim so that it will be best for the tree's long term health.

TREE REMOVAL SERVICES / FELLING

A complete tree removal is sometimes necessary because of conflicting site use or the death or dangerous condition of the subject tree. If space permits, this can be accomplished by directional felling, and the experienced Vince's Tree & Landscape arborists can safely and strategically control the direction of the fall, using skilled winching techniques. Where lack of space dictates sectional felling, the subject tree is systematically dismantled in a controlled and safe manner to avoid damage to surrounding obstacles. Roping & rigging equipment and mobile crane service can be used along with elevated platforms using safe, clean, and efficient techniques.

EMERGENCY TREE CARE

Storm damage may cause limbs or entire trees to fall or even become uprooted, often landing on other trees, homes and other structures, roads, electrical wires, or cars. The weight of storm-damaged trees is significant, and they can be dangerous to remove or trim. Our trained tree care professionals can assist in performing the job in a safe and quick manner, while reducing further risk of damage to property.

We also have extensive experience in storm management, and our team has played an active role in disaster relief for many major tornadoes, hurricanes, ice storms and other natural disasters throughout the United States. We bring that experience to your home right here in Minnesota.

TREE STUMP GRINDING

An alternative to tree stump removal is tree stump grinding, which will grind the stump down to several inches below the earth so that grass may then grow over it. This method is recommended if you're not looking to grow another tree in its place, since it is much faster and more affordable than tree stump removal. We also add dirt to the small hole that remains and seed it for grass to grow over the previous stump.

TREE STUMP REMOVAL

If you have a tree stump that you need removed completely to avoid a yard obstacle or as a visual eyesore, our experts will come out and remove the whole stump and underlying roots and root ball out of the ground so that it doesn't try to grow back. We can either fill and smooth over the ground after removal, or help you plant another tree in its place. Tree stump removal is a difficult process that requires experts who have the heavy machinery to do the job.

EMERALD ASH BORER TREATMENT

Sadly, much of Minnesota has been infested by the emerald ash borer beetle, which means that you will need to treat all of your Ash trees with an insecticide every year to prevent them from becoming infected and to help prevent the further spread of this invasive species. We recommend treatments in the early section of Spring. Our arborists are equipped with the best equipment and products to provide emerald ash borer treatment for you.

LANDSCAPING

Homeowners focus on maintaining the health of trees and landscaping on their property to increase the value and curb appeal of their property. Lately, people have been spending more time at home and try to create a more relaxing environment to entertain family and friends.

Allow the professionals at Vince's Tree and Landscape help create this atmosphere within your budget. Our services include landscape design and maintenance, irrigation, lighting, and more. We also do shoreline repair, rip rap, and boulder retaining walls.

TREE PRUNING

Our professional arborists can determine the type of pruning necessary to maintain or improve the health, appearance, proper tree growth, and safety of trees. These techniques include:

  • Eliminating branches that rub each other
  • Removing limbs that interfere with wires, building facades, gutters, roofs, chimneys, or windows, or that obstruct streets or sidewalks
  • Removing dead or weak limbs that pose a hazard or may lead to decay
  • Removing diseased or insect-infested limbs
  • Creating better structure to lessen wind resistance and reduce the potential for storm damage
  • Training and shaping young trees
  • Removing limbs damaged by adverse weather conditions
  • Removing branches, or thinning, to increase light penetration
  • Improving the shape or silhouette of the tree
  • Allow nutrients to healthy branches instead of unhealthy ones

DEADWOOD PRUNING

Deadwood Pruning is the removal of dead, dying or broken branches and diseased branch wood from the tree. This can be significant for the health of a tree and important in public areas or close to highways, etc.

TREE PLANTING

Planting new trees on your property requires quite a bit of knowledge and planning. The wrong tree in the wrong location could lead to future problems as a result of limited growing space, insects, diseases, or poor growth. Our team of professionals can recommend types of trees that are appropriate for specific locations and help plant trees on your property.

FORMATIVE & CULTURAL PRUNING

Young trees often need formative and cultural pruning to encourage good early crown formation. The removal of crossing and poorly developing branches will enhance the safety and long-term well-being of the subject tree. More advanced pruning may be required, where the need for headroom clearance for pedestrians and vehicles may be a consideration and also to permit improvement in light to properties and grounds, which will keep trees in a proper and safe relationship to buildings and structures.

DEAD & DANGEROUS TREES REMOVAL

Although tree removal is a last resort, there are circumstances when it is necessary. The removal of dead and dangerous trees in confined spaces and over obstructions and buildings is an exacting and specialized task. Vince's Tree & Landscape is able to carry out this work quickly and confidently using the advanced high climbing and lowering techniques practiced by our skilled staff. In appropriate cases, our team uses craning techniques, and is fully trained in site safety requirements.

Tree removal is generally recommended when the tree is:

  • Dead or dying
  • Considered irreparably hazardous
  • Causing an obstruction that is impossible to correct through pruning
  • Crowding and causing harm to other trees
  • To be replaced by a more suitable specimen
  • Located in an area where new construction requires removal

CROWN REDUCTION PRUNING

Crown reduction to balance soil conditions and water demands near a building are in constant demand. In many instances, sensitive crown reduction can allow the continued conservation of trees where structural problems might otherwise demand the loss of a valuable tree. Crown reduction pruning is often required to compensate for loss of root viability on development sites. Vince's Tree & Landscape can advise and carry out all appropriate uses of this technique.

CROWN THINNING

Crown thinning is the sensitive removal of a selected proportion of secondary and small live branch growth throughout the crown. This will result in an even density of foliage around a well-spaced and balanced structure that permits light penetration and lessens wind resistance. This pruning work is formative and can also be remedial work for the long-term health of more mature trees.

CABLE BRACING

Bracing, using flexible cables, can often be used in conjunction with other pruning requirements. This can equalize the loading of branches to ensure crown safety in cases of internal weakness or the presence of twin or multi-stemmed forks and heavy or horizontal branches, and to balance weaknesses caused by decay. Vince's Tree & Landscape is well-versed in the highly skilled techniques required. Where cable bracing is considered appropriate, we can undertake the detailed aerial surveying necessary to ensure the proper application of these methods.

POLLARDING

Heavy Crown Reduction Pruning or Pollarding techniques are sometimes appropriate where the crown of a deciduous tree is simply too large for its location, or in instances where extensive defects and weaknesses might make the tree unstable. Severe pruning of this type can stimulate vigorous regrowth. Vince's Tree & Landscape will fully discuss the implementation of this technique with clients as required.

SHRUB TRIMMING

Shrubs and other landscaping plants need to be trimmed several times per year for shrub health and visual appeal. In the Spring, old dead growth should be removed to ensure a good summer growing season, and in the Fall, new growth can be shaped for long term plant health and to prepare to be dormant throughout the cold months. Call us today for professional shrub and hedge trimming.
